Asamoah Gyan to stay a Sunderland player - Steve Bruce
Asamoah Gyan will not be leaving Sunderland unless the club receive a 'wonder bid' according to boss Steve Bruce Sunderland boss Steve Bruce says it would take a 'wonder bid' for the club to part company with £13m striker Asamoah Gyan this summer.
"I haven't had a telephone conversation with any agent, no offer from any club," Bruce told BBC Newcastle.
"He's going nowhere unless we get a wonder bid that comes out of nowhere."
Bruce added: "As far as I'm concerned I'm looking forward to seeing Gyan being ready for the Premier League better than what he was last year.
"I think he'll be better, he knows what to expect and I'm expecting big things from him."
Bruce's attacking options at the Stadium of Light have been bolstered this summer by the arrival of South Korea striker Ji Dong-Won, and England Under-21 forward Connor Wickham to complement Gyan, Fraizer Campbell and Stephane Sessegnon.
"Sessegnon showed toward the back end of the season, for me his best position is in and off the front - he got three goals in four games at the end and we started to see his best position," Bruce added.
"So that was in my mind when we decided how to complement the team with him and Gyan.
"In the Korean boy [Dong-Won] and Connor Wickham they're both physically big, they will lead the line.
"They're young, and haven't played at this level before which is always a risk, but for the future of the club I'm convinced that they're two very good young players."

Fifa boss Sepp Blatter says African countries must improve if they want their World Cup slots to be increased.
Six countries represented Africa at last year's World Cup because South Africa hosted the tournament.
But the continent's places at the World Cup will revert to five for the 2014 finals in Brazil.
This has sparked calls by some African countries for the continent's places to be increased in future events.
But the head of the world governing body says Africa will have to work hard to have the allocation of places increased.
"All of the Fifa member countries have equal voting rights, but when it comes to the World Cup, which is the only income of Fifa, our executive committee agrees that those confederations that have the best football should have more representatives," Blatter said in Harare.
This has sparked calls by some African countries for the continent's places to be increased in future events.
But the head of the world governing body says Africa will have to work hard to have the allocation of places increased.
"All of the Fifa member countries have equal voting rights, but when it comes to the World Cup, which is the only income of Fifa, our executive committee agrees that those confederations that have the best football should have more representatives," Blatter said in Harare.
"There are no more small national teams, everyone can beat everyone, but it's up to Africa to prove that they deserve more [World Cup places]."
"For the future it depends on the results of African teams in the World Cup."
Africa's performance in 2010, where of the continent's contenders only Ghana made it out of the quarter-finals, is the farthest an African country has gone in the World Cup.
Cameroon and Senegal also reached the same stage in 1990 and 2002 respectively.
Fifa announced in March that there will be no change in the number of qualification slots allocated to each continent at the 2014 World Cup.
The decision means that Asia keeps 4.5 places, Oceania half a place, Africa five, Concacaf 3.5 and Europe 13.
South America remain with 4.5 while Brazil qualify automatically as hosts of the 32-team tournament, as South Africa did in 2010.

Ivory Coast defender Kolo Toure says compatriot Gervinho of Lille will be the next Samuel Eto’o judging by his supreme skills and swiftness
Manchester City’s suspended central defender Kolo Toure has declared that his compatriot Gervinho of French Ligue 1 champions Lille will be the next Samuel Eto’o, considering the Ivorian’s dribbling skills and pace.
Kolo, who is currently on vacation in Cote D’Ivoire, expressed his vision about Gervinho to Sport-Ivoire on Tuesday, days after the 24-year-old former Le Mans winger was named Ivorian footballer of the year.
“Gervinho is very skilful, he’s young, swift and technical,” Kolo said. “I call him the next Samuel Eto’o. He merits being Cote D’Ivoire’s player of the year and I hope he will roll out another brilliant season. I pray he joins a club where he could express his talent the more to the world.”
Kolo earlier purchased Gervinho’s Lille jersey for $4,000 during the award ceremony, when it was put up for a bid meant to re-equip a public hospital pillaged during the country’s post election crisis.
Both players are products of the famous Abidjan-based football academy, Mimosifcom, where the likes of Yaya Toure and Salomon Kalou were groomed.

Four-time African champions Cameroon are on the verge of failing to reach the finals of the 2012 Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. They currently sit in third-place in Group E, five points behind leaders Senegal, while they also trail DR Congo.
Local fans are at their wits end concerning the disappointing exploits of the Indomitable Lions, following their 2010 Fifa World Cup failure, crashing out of the tournament before any other team. What is happening to the fallen continental giants? Does the problem lie with the coach, the FA or the players?
Is it perhaps their talismanic skipper, Samuel Eto’o?
Some of the supporters in the west African country believe so, and this opinion gained prominence when the Inter forward fluffed a penalty that could have handed Cameroon a much needed win against Senegal during the fourth round of 2012 Afcon qualifying. Opinion is divided, however, as he is still revered among much of the population.
