Tunisia's Esperance beat Morcco's Wydad Casablanca to win the 2011 African Champions League
South Africa Women U-17 side and Ghana clash at the weekend 03-07-2012 The South African Under 17 Women’s National Team (Bantwana) is preparation to play Ghana in the first leg, second round qualifier of the FIFA Under 17 Women’s World Cup at home this weekend and head coach Gregory Mashilo is quoted on the official SAFA website saying he is confident that his charges will do well against Ghana. “As we enter into a tougher set of the qualification period, it is essential that we focus on getting the team mentally prepared. We don’t want to create unnecessary pressure on ourselves but it is vital that we win the home leg. Our playing style is similar to that of Ghana, so we are working on how to tackle them and diffuse their attacks, but I have great confidence in the team that we will get through,” said Mashilo. He went on to say “During camp, the players have been given time to continue with their studies. Education is very important, and we want these players not to focus on their football careers only but also to continue studying so they are not left behind. We give as much attention to their football as we do to their schoolwork. The morning is dedicated to school while training is in the afternoon and we believe this does not in any way hamper our preparations for Saturday. We don’t want them to abandon their studies,” said Mashilo. South Africa progressed to the second round of the World Cup qualifiers 5-1 on aggregate over Namibia. South Africa is holding camp at the High Performance Centre at the University of Pretoria Sports Grounds. The FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup will take place in the Eastern European country of Azerbaijan from 22 September – 13 October 2012.
