Mikel appeals for release of his abducted father

John Mikel Obi (left) in action for Chelsea against Stoke City on Sunday Mikel played for Chelsea against Stoke City on Sunday despite being told that his father had gone missing
Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi has appealled for the return of his father, who has been abducted in Nigeria.
Michael Obi has not been seen or heard from since he failed to return home from work on Friday in Jos.
"John Mikel Obi's father was abducted in Nigeria on Friday," SEM Group said on Twitter.
"I've always tried to help the country, this is the time for the country to help me, whoever knows where my dad is should please contact me," Mikel said.
The player was told before Sunday's Premier League game between Chelsea and Stoke City, but decided to play.
"I said I would like to play, I wouldn't want to let the club down and if I didn't play that game I think my mum would be very sad, she told me to go out there and be strong and make sure I do well in the game," the 24-year-old told Sky Sports News.
"I don't think my team-mates know, I told [Didier] Drogba today [Monday] and [Salomon] Kalou who is a good friend, I didn't want everyone coming up and saying sorry."
SEM said no ransom demand had yet been received but Mikel admitted his father's famous son was likely to be known by any potential kidnappers.
"I think they do know, my family have lived there all their lives so they will know who he is and who I am," he said.
"This happens a lot in the eastern part of Nigeria but my dad would probably be the first this has happened to in the northern part which is a very safe place, this is very rare and is surprising everyone."
His family told the BBC that they have had no contact with Obi senior but believe he is "safe and well".
The Chelsea player's agent John Ola Shittu said that everybody in the family remains hopeful.
"It's been tough for the young man," Shittu said.
"The family in Jos reported him missing at the police station as expected but we're taking all necessary measures to find him."
"We've told him to be brave and to stay calm."
Shittu said the family has also not heard from anyone claiming to hold Obi senior.

Kidnappings - more often of oil workers, the rich and famous - are a common occurrence in Nigeria.
Footballers and their families are increasingly being targetted.
In July 2008, the elder brother of Nigerian and Everton defender Joseph Yobo was seized in Port Harcourt, where kidnappings for ransom are most frequent.
It was not clear if a ransom was paid but Nornu Yobo was released after being held for almost two weeks.

Cameroon star Samuel Eto’o to launch foundation in Gabon

The Cameroon captain announced the extension of his charity activities to Gabon during a brief visit to that country to inspect preparations for the 2012 African Cup of Nations

La Foundation Eto'o will soon have a branch office in Gabon, in a bid to extend its global activities of fostering social integration, education and youth training to the central African country.
Inter striker Samuel Eto'o is expected to complete a transfer to Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala after undergoing a medical on Tuesday at the Villa Stuart Clinic in Rome. Despite the transfer saga making headline news recently, he had time to make provisions for further growth within his charitable organization on the African continent.
“I came to Libreville among other things to kick off the La Foundation Eto'o in Gabon. I’ll be coming back with my fellow African players Didier Drogba and Michael Essien to inaugurate the foundation very soon,” Eto’o told a cheering crowd in the country.
The founder and principal sponsor, Eto’o announced the good tidings to locals during a recent visit to Gabon where he, alongside Head of State Ali Bongo, inspected several construction sites of the 2012 African Cup of Nations, to be jointly hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
“[The] Gabon government will not spend any cash on the project. I’ll be coming with many of my footballer friends to raise the funds for the organisation so our little brothers could have pleasure playing football and studying as well in their environment,” he said.
Eto’o ended the public chat with an anecdote about his own life.
“I couldn’t have made it this far if someone hadn’t rendered the help I needed then. A certain rich man gave me the chance to play football and you can see where I am today. So it’s my turn to help those who need it to succeed in their career.”
The La Foundation Eto’o was presented with the “best charitable work” award in 2010 by the Cameroon Professional Society (CPS), an organization of active Cameroonians in the diaspora based in the USA.

Al Hilal beat Coton Sport to notch up second home win
Sudan’s' Hilal beat Cameroon club side Cotton Sport FC de Garoua 2-1 during match day 3 of the Orange CAF Champions league played in Omdurman city to keep up with leaders, Enyimba in group A. It was the home side’s first win over the Garoua team in three attempts and gives the Sudanese team a total of seven points from three matches.
Goals from the captain Hytham Mustafa and Cameroonian Otobong Ene cancelled out Madila Mfoutou Chardin’s 11th-minute opener for the visitors that looked to have put early pressure on Hilal boss Micho

Cotton Sport had the first chance of the match in the third minute through Haman Jacques Haman. He played in a dangerous cross from the right intended for Al-Muez but the resultant effort was just wide off the mark. In a lively match that saw some entertaining football played by the two teams, Hilal almost got the opener courtesy of a mistake from Coton Sport goalkeeper, Daouda Kassaly. Kassaly miscued his throw giving the ball to Hilal’s Irahima Toure but the latter was perhaps to shocked to receive the unexpected gift and took long to pick out team-mate Edward Sadomba who was in a scoring position and the chance was snuffed away. The opening goal arrived in the 11th minute much to the disappointment of the home crowd. It was Modila Mfoutou who put visitors Coton Sport in front from a cross. Coton Sport grew in confidence after the goal and started dominating the exchanges with Cameroon international Ndame Ndame pulling the strings in the midfield.
The see-saw battle continued with Hilal going in search for the equalizer but finding a solid defence manned by Coton. Soon Hilal was resorting to shots from long range and the closest they got was from Alaa-din and Hytham‘s efforts. Hilal’s fortune turned in the 27th minute when their Zimbabwean striker Edward Sadomba was bought down in the penalty box by Ewonde Epassi who earned a second yellow card and dismissal while giving away a spot kick. Up stepped Hytham who beat Kassaly for Hilal’s equalizer.
Coton shuffled their side bringing influential Ndame Ndame into defence and this allowed Hilal to boss the midfield battle. Hilal swung the momentum in their favour. In a cruel twist to the end it was a Cameroonian, Otonbong Ene who scored the winning goal for Hilal against his countrymen. Otonbong headed in from Hytham’s cross as Coton Sport succumbed in Omdurman. There was further misery for the visitors when Ndame Ndame received his marching orders for a reckless challenge on Omer Bakheet.
